The 14-year-old at William Floyd High School in Mastic Beach was being interviewed by a school administrator on an unrelated matter when the student was found to have a loaded gun.
School officials contacted police early Friday afternoon, Oct. 18.
The student, who is not being identified due to his age, was charged by Suffolk County PD Seventh Squad detectives with:
- Criminal possession of a weapon,
- Criminal possession of a weapon on school grounds.
The boy was held overnight at the Seventh Precinct and will be arraigned as a juvenile offender at First District Court in Central Islip on Saturday, Oct. 19.
The investigation is continuing.
